Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA

KCA Engineers has provided engineering consultation, utility analyses, land acquisition mapping, surveying, cost estimating and design services on this 313 acre downtown project since 1982. In a unique collaborative process, the major land holder, Catellus Development Corporation joined with the city's Planning Department in the late 1980's to cooperatively plan this award-winning project. KCA has been engaged by both parties at various times to provide planning and civil engineering services. Under a different Catellus management team, we engaged in a second, ultimately successful entitlement effort, in the mid- to late 1990's. This effort resulted in the inclusion of UCSF as a development partner in the project . Construction of infrastructure and development of user sites commenced in 2000.

Master Plan for the Lockheed Missile and Space Plant, Sunnyvale, CA

Project goal was a Master Plan to turn 555 acres of industrial development into a secured, integrated campus. Several specific site scenarios were developed to a schematic design stage. KCA served as consultant on the Master Plan and addressed parking, utility relocation, storm drainage, new road alignments, and other civil design issues.

Genentech Corporate Headquarters - South San Francisco, CA

Developed an Infrastructure Master Plan in conjunction with owner's architectand landscape architect for a 22 acre corporate campus accommodating 600,000 square feet of research, office and parking facilities. Prepared conceptual construction cost estimates for site and utility development. After completion of the Master Plan, prepared site development plans and provided surveying support for buildings 3, 9, 24 and 26 and for the Genentech Campus Spine linking DNA Way with Forbes Boulevard.

Chiron Life Science Center, Emeryville, CA

Provided conceptual design for sitework and utility systems for a major expansion of Chiron 's corporate, research and development and manufacturing facilities at the 25 acre Emeryville campus. Provided schematic design, design development and construction documents for Phase 1 civil improvements and prepared tentative and final subdivision maps. Work scope included design of infrastructure elements within a highly contaminated environment and utility routing within and around existing slurry containment walls and very large regional drainage conduits traversing the site.

Vaca Valley Industrial/Business Park, Vacaville, CA

KCA provided master planning to Chevron Land and Development Company for this 400 acre development adjacent to Highways I-80 and I-505.
