Saddleback Condominiums
This project, a 228 unit residential condominium complex is uniquely situated
in two different municipalities and two different counties - the City
& County of San Francisco and Daly City in San Mateo County. KCA
provided civil site design, surveying and condominium mapping services
including extensive grading on steep slopes, complete utility layouts,
and roadway systems.
Extend Guadalupe Canyon Parkway to Rte 101
KCA developed concept plans for the extension of Guadalupe Canyon Parkway
from its current intersection with Bayshore Boulevard to a new
interchange with U.S. Route 101. The study involved several alternate
alignments and grading options through difficult terrain.
Jamestown Water Main Extension
KCA prepared route studies and improvement plans for a major pipeline in
southeastern San Francisco, designed to provide domestic water service
to several proposed developments in the Candlestick Point area.
Midway Village Master Plan & Civil Design
The Midway Village Master Plan and Design Guidelines report, in conjunction
with an earlier KCA-authored ‘Preliminary Investigation’ report was
used to guide the redevelopment of war-time housing on the Midway
Village site in Daly City. The report developed site constraints, site
design guidelines, and conceptual housing design. A detailed
construction schedule and project cost projections were included. The
study led to the construction of 160 new units of assisted housing
managed by the Housing Authority of San Mateo County.KCA was retained as
civil engineer and surveyor for this project.
Bayshore 'Big Box’ Planning
In the area just east of Bayshore Boulevard near the City's southerly
boundary, KCA provided concept civil engineering for several "big
box" retail proposals. The studies included an analysis of traffic
circulation issues including the relationship of the projects to nearby
Caltrain operations and an area-wide drainage analysis.
Tunnel Road Reconstruction
Along this 1.5 mile section of settlement-prone roadway between San Francisco
and the City of Brisbane, KCA designed repairs to the roadway and
provided vertical displacement surveys to monitor roadway performance.
Brisbane Station
On this largely vacant 800 acre tract KCA provided to the owner concept
studies for residential and commercial development of the parcel. KCA
prepared boundary and topographic surveys, a study of existing utilities
and their capacity to be extended and enlarged to serve the proposed
project and circulation alternatives focused on new interchanges with
U.S. Route 101.
Carter-Martin Streets Improvement Project
KCA engineers designed street and water system improvements in the
vicinity of the Cow Palace in northern San Mateo County. KCA managed a project
that involved four separate governmental entities, 25 financial
contributors, significant community participation and innovative environmental
mitigation activities As Assessment District Engineer, duties included design, construction
management and inspection of major street and utility improvements over
difficult terrain along the northeasterly slopes of San Bruno Mountain.
Received a Caltrans "Excellence in Transportation Facilities"
award.
San Bruno Mountain, Visitacion Rancho, Crocker Hills Projects
KCA provided conceptual civil design and planning services on this 2,667 acre
mixed-use development located between the cities of Daly City, Brisbane
and San Francisco. Primary work efforts included site development
engineering, utility investigation, development cost projections,
traffic circulation planning, hydrologic studies, topographic and
property surveys and preparation of planning and engineering exhibits
for public presentation. Although environmental issues prevented the
realization of the entire master development plan, KCA did design the
residential site work, roadways and utility systems for Pointe Pacific
located along the western slopes of the mountain.
San Francisco Executive Park
This business park project is at the southern entryway to Candlestick Point
and 3Com Park. KCA provided civil design of roadway and parking lot
improvements and prepared subdivision maps for a multi-phase project.
Schlage Lock Redevelopment
KCA undertook boundary surveys on this 20 acre site and assisted the
environmental consultant in location of test borings.
Hunter’s Point Housing
KCA was responsible for civil engineering aspects of this large scale
redevelopment project. Work involved the design of a new community
including schools, childcare centers, community meeting rooms, shopping
center, churches, recreation center, playgrounds, landscaping, extensive
retaining walls, a one million gallon water storage reservoir and
undergrounding of utilities. This project received a HUD Award for
Design Excellence.
